2009 Annual Report

So for the first time ever (inspired by another couponer), I actually kept track of all my spending and savings for grocery items, health/beauty and household consumables. I'd never done this before but I really wanted to see how much I was saving because even though you feel like your saving when you coupon shop all these great deals, sometimes you wonder if you are spending more on things you might not necessarily buy but do just because it's a good deal. I encourage you to do the same for your household in 2010 so you can see how it all adds up!

Note: These totals do not reflect all alcohol purchased or Costco trips (which probably total between $50-$100 a month together). Spent total is based on actual oop after gift cards.

Here's where I ended up for 2009:
Savings - $12,169.96
Spent - $2,291.47

That's a savings of 81% of retail price!! An average spending of $44 a week which was under my goal budget of $50 a week! My littlest one is out of diapers now though which ARE included in that spending amount, so hopefully no diapers will make up for the Costco trips that put me slightly over budget. I think this year I will add Costco to my list so I can really see how much we are spending there!

I also submitted 60 rebates for a total of $498.21 back!

In addition to saving money, I donated more then ever to our local food pantry. I, like everyone else probably, donated the occasional canned goods for a food drive sponsored by one organization or another, but that was about the extent of my food donating. It was a great feeling to donate bags and bags (and bags) of items to the food pantry this year!

What are your money saving goals for 2010? I plan to stick to my $50-a-week grocery/household budget because it seems to be working well for our family (but I'm going to add Costco into the mix and see if I can still stay within budget) and I am going to be tracking our eating out spending to see how much we are actually spending there and get on a realistic budget for that luxury.

I'm looking forward to saving with you in 2010!!
