Jewel Trip 12/30/09: P&G Catalina Deal and more scenarios

If you want to read more about this current deal, go here!

Sometimes with these catalina deals you get spoiled because your oop (out of pocket) is so low. This unfortunately is not one of those times so I end up feeling I spent too much (which in reality is ridiculous compared to what most people spend on the same items). At any rate, here's what I got:

Target - Christmas 75% off and get ready for the Toy Clearance!

[targetlogo4.jpg]

Stopped at Target today and the Christmas clearance was marked down to 75% off...that means it will go 90% Friday (if they are open) or Saturday for sure. I picked up quite a few wrapping items and stocking stuffers for next year and saved $84.71!! Here are some of the prices of things I got:
  • Hickory Farms Sausage gifts - $1.24-$3.74 (depending on the size of the box)
  • Holiday treat bags - .49
  • Holiday Pokemon Card set - $1.24
  • Holiday Gift bags - .25-.37 each

  • Bag of mini Pez refills - $1.19
  • Gift Tags - .74
  • Mini Bicycle Playing cards - .25

Also, took a stroll through the toy department (I know, we all need more toys like we need a whole in the head, but I shop Targets Bi-Annual toy sale for all my easter bunny, santa and bday party stockpile)! Lots of items are already 30% off. It usually goes 75% off the second week or so in January, but its a great time to just check out what is being clearanced so you know what might be interested in when the time comes.

Sign up for Smile.ly a new word of mouth marking company

smiley

There is a new word-of-mouth marketing program called Smile.ly. Go here to sign up, once you complete your profile you’re eligible for campaigns that they affectionately call missions. There have been reports that sign ups today have received an offer for a free bottle of One-A-Day VitaCraves right away. I did not - I received a Get to Know Smile.ly mission which is basically to spread the word about the program - so I'm spreading the word! Like with the other word-of-mouth programs, once you accept a mission you’re supposed to try the product and share your opinion of it with others.

Here's what you get out of it:
  • Knowing your opinions can make a real difference
  • Access to products and services, sometimes before the general public
  • Complimentary product samples or access to services so you can experience them for yourself
  • Exclusive perks—both Status (privileged access to campaigns) and Stuff (rewards and other little surprises)

Coupon Tip (12/28/09) - Electronic Coupon Savings

Photobucket

Did you know there are electronic coupon savings that you can add to your store savings cards online and the deduction will automatically come off at the time of purchase (as long as you remember to have them scan your loyalty card)? Since I used some of these savings today on my trip to Dominick's I thought I would make it this week's coupon tip to make sure you are taking advantage of ALL the coupon savings available to you.

The best part about Electronic Coupon Savings is that they can be used in addition to traditional clipable coupons. This helps to double your savings!!

Avenu Savings (available for Jewel) - Enter your card number to activate your savings. You MUST check and activate each day before you shop for the savings to automatically be deducted. Offers change on a mid week and weekly basis. Right now my Avenu has $1/1 Febreeze product that would work great with the Jewel P&G catalina deal because I could also use a $1/1 coupon making my total savings $2 off one item! You might remember Avenu terminals being at the front of Jewel stores and you would scan your card and it would print out a sheet of the available savings. It works the same way, except that you do it all online! Sometimes there are limits for the amount of discounts you can use (i.e. 2 per visit) but the savings stays for the duration of the week.

Cellfire (available for Dominicks) - Program hooks up to your cellphone but you don't have to download the cell application to be able to load the electronic savings to your Dominick's loyalty card. New savings available for 2 weeks and don't expire for a month, so sometimes you can have multiples of the same offer added to your card at the same time and they BOTH will come off your purchase (like today I had 2 Pillsbury Refrigerated cookie dough for $1/2, one that I added 2 weeks ago and 2 that I added today and they BOTH came off). Plus you can combine with a regular clipable coupon too! Once you use the discount it disappears from your card but if it comes back you can re-add it!

Shortcuts (available for Dominicks) - Add savings to your Dominick's card. Works the same way as Cellfire does. You can combine a regular coupon with these electronic savings also. Once you use the discount it disappears from your card but if it comes back you can re-add it!

P&G eSaver (available for Dominicks) - Limit one use per savings added to card. You can also combine a regular coupon with this e-savings.

Softcoin (available for Dominicks) - Limit one use per savings added to card. You can also combine a regular coupon with this e-savings.

See all past coupon tips here!

Dominick's Trip 12/28/09

Went to Dominick's today in an attempt to use the 4 FREE Breakfast coupons available on the front of their Sunday Ad (Free OJ, Free Eggs, Free Bacon and a Free loaf of bread), but I didn't take into account the instant store deductions would count against me from the crackers so I was short...and I was already holding up the line so I just told them to take those items off my order. Here's what I did end up getting:

Photobucket

I paid $5.22 for everything in the picture above (savings of $81.81 or 96%)!! I will send in for the $10 Kraft Jingle Your Holiday Rebate for a total net profit of $4.78!

Here is a breakdown of the deals above:
  • Nabisco crackers through 1/7/09 are Save $5 when you buy 5 boxes. Triscuts and Wheat Thins are $1 ea wyb 5 and Ritz are $1.50 wyb 5. I purchased 8 Triscuts and 2 Ritzs for a total of $11. Used 2 $3/4 Nabisco cracker Qs from the liquor department (Jewel) and 2 $1/1 from 11/8 SS. Final price $3 will send in for $10 rebate!
  • 2 Holiday Pillsbury Cookies on sale 2/$3. Used $1/2 from 11/15 GM plus $2.75 off in electronic coupons from cellfire and shortcuts. Final price FREE plus .75 profit! You could also use the $1/1 printables here.
  • 2 Progresso soup - BOGO $1.89. Used .50/2 from 12/6 AND $1.50/2 Dominicks Staying Well coupon booklet (found near the pharmacy). Plus 3 X .50/1 from cellfire and shortcuts. Final price FREE plus 1.61 profit!
  • 2 Chinet paper plates - $2 with in ad coupon, used $2/1 from 11/22. Final price FREE!
  • 4 Sargento Salad Finishers - $2.50 each, Used 4 $2/1 coupons from Houseparty. Final price .50 ea.

  • Lucerne Smoothie - .99, Used $1/1 any Lucerne item from corporate.
How'd you do at Dominick's this week?

Jewel Trip 12/28/09

I haven't really shopped all that much the last couple weeks, just picking up a few things here and there. Sometimes when you shop the way I do, its hard to buy anything that isn't part of a "deal"...and you end up making a lot of little shopping trips as a result.

Here's what I picked up at Jewel today:

Photobucket

I paid $20.51 oop and got back a $10 catalina for my next order. Net cost was $10.51 for everything pictured above (savings of $48.49)!

Here's how it breaks down:
  • 4 boxes of Grape Nuts - $1.50 each wyb 4. Used 2 $1/2 from 12/6. Final Price $1/box (which is a great price for Grape Nuts!)
  • 6 Pantene Products from the P&G Catalina Deal - $1.48 plus tax for all 6 items. Read more about there here.
  • Jack Daniels Pulled Pork - $5.99, used $2/1 tearpad from the liquor department. Final price $3.99.
  • 2 Super Pretzels - $1.99 each, used 2 .50/1 from 12/6. Final Price $1.49 each.
  • Free case of Jewel water, Homelife toilet paper and Equalize Ibuprofen all using FREE coupons from the Jewel Preferred Card update booklet from over the summer.

CVS Trip 12/28/09

I was totally out of milk so I headed over to CVS so I could score myself some free milk! Here's what I got:

Photobucket

I paid $1.34 on a gift card for everything pictured above. Spent $6.48 in ECBs and earned $7 in ECB for a net cost of .82 for all of it! Here's how it breaks down:

1 Contour Glucose Monitor - $14.99 (got $5 ECB)
1 Colgate Total Advance - $2.99 (got $2 ECB)
1 Ivory Soap 3 pk - .99
2 Gallons of Deans 2% milk - $2.49 ea
Used $1/1 Ivory Soap Q from 12/27 (adjusted down to .99)
Used $1/1 Colgate Q from Jan All You Magazine
Used $30/1 Contour Glucose Monitor 10/25 RP (adjusted down to $14.99)
Paid with $6.48 in ECBs and $1.34 on a gift card
Earned $7 in ECBs, net total .82!

I can't tell you the number of people that poke fun at me for all the Glucose monitors I have in my possession. No, I don't need them for my own personal use, but buying that monitor allowed me to make $5 in ECBs that paid for the milk that I did needed, so why wouldn't I buy that glucose monitor? (Plus I do attempt to sell them at my annual garage sale and then donate the rest each year).

So when you see monitors come up on the "deals for the week" think again about buying it if you haven't in the past!

What did you score at CVS this week?

For example, diapers are an everyday low price, there is no additional savings between non-preferred price and sale price. Free Pampers Gifts to Grow Code for the Holidays

Do you collect Pampers Gifts to Grow codes? You can add 10 points to your Pamper's Gifts to Grow account by adding the code HappyHolidays10 (10 points, expires 1/2/10).

If you collect these, have you noticed that they multiplied everything by 10, I don't understand their reasoning behind this, but if you had 100 points before now you will have 1000 when you log in and all of the rewards cost 10X as much too?

Thanks to Freebies 4 Mom for the code!
