My Blog Spark and General Mills invited me to attend Chicago's Box Top University this past Friday! The event was sponsored by Jewel and Ziploc. I was excited to attend and learn more about how the Box Top Program works and different ideas that schools in the area use to increase participation from families!
After an exciting welcome to all the bloggers in attendance, the day started with a session that shared lots of interesting facts about box tops as well as the correct way to submit your box tops.
Did you know that:
- There are over 100,000 schools enrolled in the Box Top Program
- 31 Million Households Clip and Collect Box Tops
- The average amount raised per school each year is $732 (however there are MANY schools in the nation that raise THOUSANDS of dollars each year)!
- The top raising school is Red Bird Mission School in Kentucky - they raised $18,000 last year!
- Box Tops are recycled after collection. All Box Tops are incinerated, which turns into wind power and provides electricity for local homes in Minnesota (WOW)!
We learned about the NEW products that are going to be carrying Box Tops on them:

There are hundreds of stores and all you have to do is click through the marketplace before you shop to get credit for eBox Tops. Our school currently has ZERO marketplace shoppers, so I'm going to have to remember to do that the next time I shop online!
